The Porter families covered in this blog are focussed in the Parishes of Standish, Croston, Leyland in Lancashire and Slaidburn, Whitewell (Whalley) in the West Riding of Yorkshire, and environs. The families researched covered the period 1565 to 1800. More parishes will be added to the blog with information and names will be included in Porter Name Database (see link in right hand column) with sources.

Hi Imogen Turner, welcome. Imogen is descended from Frank and Hannah (Booth) Porter of Blackburn. Frank was a brother of my Grandfather, Tom Porter. Frank and Tom, according to family stories, were very close. Not only in age, but in their relationship. Grandpa Tom was apparently quite sad when Frank left home to go live with their father. (That is another story.) Grandpa tried to convince Frank to come to Canada with him, but Frank chose to remain in England.
